Premier welcomes new Inuit organization leadership

Premier P.J. Akeeagok released the following statement:

“As premier, I wish to welcome newly elected leaders to the territorial and regional Inuit organizations. Congratulations to Paul Irngaut who is elected as vice-president of Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated. As well to Olayuk Akesuk as president of the Qikiqtani Inuit Association and Robert Greenley as president for the Kitikmeot Inuit Association.

Our government has unprecedented opportunities to work collaboratively with Inuit organizations to achieve tangible outcomes. The Katujjiluta mandate is built on partnership, with Inuit organizations included for the first time in the development of mandate objectives.

Katujjiluta includes the Inuit societal value of Piliriqatigiinniq/Ikajuqtigiinniq: working together for a common cause. We know that we are stronger together and cannot achieve our objectives alone. I look forward to working alongside these leaders towards a better Nunavut.”
