The Honourable George Hickes, Deputy Premier and Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Nunavut, the Honourable Annie Tattuinee, Minister of Human Resources and MLA for Rankin Inlet South, along with the Nunavut Member of Parliament, Lori Idlout, are pleased to announce the official opening of the Rankin Inlet air terminal building on September 28.
The new larger air terminal building is a key transportation hub for the community of Rankin Inlet and the Kivalliq region, connecting people, goods and communities across Nunavut and the rest of Canada.
Opening celebrations will begin in the terminal building at 8:30 a.m. on September 28, with a qulliq lighting and prayer followed by remarks, entertainment, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community barbecue.
The Honourable Rebecca Chartrand, Minister of Northern and Arctic Affairs and Minister responsible for the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency, will be joining the celebration to make an announcement regarding infrastructure investments at the Rankin Inlet Airport on behalf of Minister of Transport and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, the Honourable Steven MacKinnon.
