Iqaluit, Nunavut (October 15, 2026) – The Nunavut Partnership Committee – the Executive Council of the Government of Nunavut (GN) and the Board of Directors of Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (NTI) – met Thursday to discuss progress toward shared priorities and plan next steps.
The partnership was declared in March 2022 and renewed in December 2025, following the formation of the new government, and this week’s meeting was the first for several leaders elected in the interim. The partnership is purpose-driven, and aims to make meaningful progress on priorities expressed in the GN’s Ikajuqtigiikta mandate and NTI’s Inungnik Makippalliatittiniq.
“Since the partnership was established, we have made progress on a number of important priorities. We have also learned that partnership requires consistent effort, open communication and a willingness to work through challenges together,” said Premier John Main. “Nunavummiut expect us to be partners, and we are committed to working together for the betterment of Inuit and Nunavut.”
“NTI and the Government of Nunavut have different responsibilities, but we share a commitment to improving the lives of Inuit," said Gloria Uluqsi, President of Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated. "I want this partnership to focus on practical results that Inuit can see in their communities. Whether we are working on housing, Inuktut education, or creating more opportunities for Inuit, we need to work together and follow through on our commitments. We also need to report back to Inuit on what we have accomplished and where more work is needed.”
The committee acknowledged progress, affirmed commitment to strengthening the partnership and endorsed a renewed approach for targeted actions.
