OTTAWA, ON (May 4, 2018) - Nunavut Premier Paul Quassa, Northwest Territories Premier Robert McLeod and Yukon Premier Sandy Silver met in Ottawa this week to discuss territorial perspectives and common approaches on climate change, carbon pricing, infrastructure funding, and federal policy development in the north. Nominations are now open for the 2018 Council of Federation Literacy Award. Premier Paul Quassa seeks to honour an adult who supports, encourages and shares ways to strengthen literacy skills in Nunavut. The 2018 Nunavut Council of the Federation Literacy Award will recognize someone who supports and inspires others to use Inuktut and develop their literacy skills – oral, written or through artistic expression. Qikiqtarjuaq, Nunavut – A mobile TB Screening Clinic became operational in Qikiqtarjuaq earlier this week, and today, Premier Paul Quassa toured the clinic with Minister of Health Pat Angnakak as the Government of Nunavut takes bold action to reduce the number of TB infections. The Premier and Minister were joined on the tour by Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami President Natan Obed, Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. IQALUIT, Nunavut – Premier Paul Quassa and Cabinet Ministers met this week to discuss priorities for the new government mandate of Nunavut’s fifth Legislative Assembly. The Cabinet retreat wrapped up in Igloolik on Thursday. "A new Executive Council means a fresh start for our territory, and an opportunity to renew our direction and commitment to our people and partnerships," said Premier Quassa.
