Premier Savikataaq celebrates Nunavut Day

Premier Joe Savikataaq today released the following statement:

“It’s been another hard year, fighting the pandemic and balancing our many priorities. COVID-19 hit our territory, leading to several community outbreaks, and Nunavummiut showed their strength, perseverance and kindness. For all your hard work and patience, I cannot thank you enough.

The Government of Nunavut has proven to be adaptable and able to balance more priorities than ever before. Despite the urgency of responding to COVID-19, I’m proud of what our government has achieved. We have lots of work still to do, but I’m more confident than ever that we’re in a better position that we were four years ago. Let’s keep our momentum going and keep building and strengthening our territory, together.

Nunavut is the most beautiful place on earth, with the most vibrant people, languages and cultures. I’m full of pride today and every day, and I’m always in awe of Nunavummiut and what we can achieve.

Thank you for letting me be part of growing and helping make a better Nunavut for us all. Happy Nunavut Day!”
